Electives at Academy Camps

At Academy Camps we’re focused on providing balanced programming for all our athletes

Our elective program provides opportunities for holistic development — physically, mentally, socially, and creatively. It also focuses on reducing the risk of injury and making space for our athletes to just have fun.

Encouraging your child to participate in these activities can broaden their skill set, build confidence, promote well-rounded athleticism, and contribute to their overall enjoyment of the camp experience.

Performance

This age-based elective is designed for our youngest athletes to become familiar with fitness training and for our oldest athletes to enhance their physical conditioning with a focus on improving strength, speed, agility, and endurance.

Wellness

Athletes can sign up for this elective to explore the benefits of yoga, meditation, mindfulness, visualization, and nature hikes at the AC Balance Barn. These practices are known for reducing stress and anxiety, improving focus, and enhancing overall mental well-being and confidence.

Free Swim

This elective provides an opportunity for athletes to enjoy recreational swimming in our indoor pool (and 2 diving boards!). It’s a great way to unwind, have fun with peers, and improve overall fitness through swimming exercises. It’s also an elective our trainers recommend for recovery.

An additional variety of sports are offered on rotation

All of our athletes get the opportunity to scrimmage against other athletes of all ages in the following sports:

Tennis Baseball

Combines elements of tennis and baseball, using a tennis ball and racquet to play a modified version of baseball.

Boxing

Athletes learn basic non-contact boxing techniques including punches, footwork, and defensive maneuvers.

Team Handball

Athletes participate in a fast-paced team sport that combines elements of soccer, basketball, and hockey.

We also offer our Core Sports on rotation

SOLO: Ropes Course & Rock Climbing

On our very own ropes course and rock climbing walls we develop leadership skills, teamwork, and outdoor competence. Enhances problem-solving abilities, builds confidence in challenging environments, and strengthens teamwork skills. This elective is a double elective allowing participants to get multiple opportunities to climb the high ropes and the indoor rock walls.

Athlete’s Lounge

This is a space designed for athletes to relax, socialize, and recharge outside of training sessions. It’s a place where they can connect with peers and unwind between activities. The lounge is an air conditioned space with ping pong, chess, pop-a-shot, jenga, and other board games. Occasionally, we will also stream popular sporting events.

Arts & Crafts

Offered multiple times a week, this elective encourages creativity, relaxation, and fine motor skills development through various art and craft projects. Crafts include designing custom sunglasses, beaded sports keychains, friendship bracelet making, and coloring books.
